You can build a successful practice and still feel like it’s running your life

There’s a point many practice owners reach where success starts to come with a cost.

Healthcare was built for humans.

Better patient care shouldn’t require sacrificing the person providing it.

WHY TPS EXISTS

Hi, I’m Kathryn - founder of The Provider Shift

I became a chiropractor because I wanted to provide better care for patients. I spent over 20 years in healthcare. I’ve been a chiropractor. A practice owner. An educator. A healthcare executive. A legal executive for a national law firm.

I've seen this industry from almost every side.

And for a long time, I thought I was doing it right. My practice was successful on paper. I had built something I was proud of.

But there came a point when my practice began taking over me.

I missed my daughter's school performance on a Tuesday morning at 10AM because the practice needed me.

Vacations became something I could only wish for. I lost sleep thinking about what still needed to be handled.

And I started to realize that the practice I'd built to provide care differently was becoming something that was keeping me from the life I cared about.

I know many healthcare practice owners experience some version of this.

You leave a hospital or healthcare system because you want more autonomy, more time, or a better way to care for people.

Then the practice grows, the responsibilities multiply, and the freedom you were looking for starts to feel further away.

That experience changed the way I think about growth.

I don't believe your practice should require you to sacrifice your family, your health, your sleep, or the reason you became a provider in the first place.

The Provider Shift was created around a simple belief:

Better patient care shouldn't require sacrificing the person providing it.

I believe a successful practice has to work on more than one level.

It has to be caring, efficient, and profitable.

It has to work for the patient. It has to work for the team. And it has to work for the person who built it.

TPS exists to help experienced private practice owners keep learning, build meaningful relationships, and stay equipped for a healthcare landscape that keeps changing — while expanding their capacity to care for patients, their families, and themselves.

“Your family should get the best of you... not the rest of you.”
